Organist Wanted

Description:  St. Jude's Church in Lewes, Delaware seeks a Director of Music.  The Director of Music is a part time, 25 hours per week position responsible for administering and producing the music ministry program at St. Jude's.  This individual will report to the Pastor.  The ideal candidate will be skilled as an accomplished organist and/or pianist, choral musician, director and administrator responsible for directing and overseeing the adult choir, youth choir (will need to recruit), cantors and general administration of the overall program. 

Responsibilities: 

Coordinate all musicians and ensure quality of musical performance during masses at which these people minister. 

The Director of Music will be responsible for planning and executing the music at all weekend liturgies, as well as special celebrations (listed below):

             The regular liturgical celebrations include:

                      -  Eucharistic celebrations on 52 weekends (3-4 per weekend);

                        -Memorial  Day through Labor Day two additional services during the summer months; Thanksgiving, All Saints, All Souls, Christmas,

                           Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, the Holy Days of Obligation; the parish secular feasts.

                       -Communal sacramental celebrations of First Reconciliation, First Communion, Confirmation and Prayer Services as appropriate.

                       -Wedding and funerals, both for additional stipend fees above and beyond the agreed-upon salary.

 Weekly rehearsals with Choir(s), September through May/June.

 Monthly (or more frequent) rehearsals with parish Cantors.

 Scheduling Musicians and Cantors.

Designing and printing weekly worship aids when necessary.

Ensuring all copyright licensing and usage reporting to the major music publishers (GIA, OCP, CCLI and WLP).

Maintain and expand current Choral Music Library.

Serve as resource on musical and liturgical matters for all staff and volunteer ministers in the parish.

Collaborate with the Business Manager on preparation and implementation of the Music and Liturgy budgets.

 Collaborate with Liturgy Committee and Religious Education in certain liturgical events.

 Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Pastor.

 

Compensation:  $35,000/annually.
