“Spread the Joy” Program

The Social Concerns Ministry (SCM) invites you to help “Spread the Joy” of the Risen Lord during this Easter season. Unlike the Advent program where we assist individuals, “Spread the Joy” focuses on supporting organizations in their mission to help others. Three organizations have been identified for this year’s program.

La Esperanza works with the Hispanic community in Sussex County, providing assistance with employment, housing, education, permanent residency, U.S. citizenship, naturalization, and self-sufficiency. They have indicated a need for $25 Walmart gift cards to help provide for clients’ needs for clothing, food, and personal care items.

Little Sisters of the Poor provides compassionate care to the aged poor in a home-like atmosphere. In addition to receiving loving day-to-day care, each resident is treated to a special birthday meal from an area restaurant. Little Sisters have indicated a need for $25 Olive Garden, Applebee’s, Bertucci’s (Best of Italy), or Panera gift cards for this purpose.  Also requested are $25 Amazon gift cards to help with purchase of supplies for resident activities.

Meals on Wheels provides meals and companionship to those homebound or alone. In addition to the dinner meal, Meals on Wheels provides their most food-insecure clients with additional items for breakfast and lunch, and requests $25 Weis gift cards for this purpose.

Here's how to contribute:

  • Purchase the gift card(s) requested by the organizations as listed above.
  • Place the gift card(s) in an envelope labeled “Spread the Joy.”
  • Drop the envelope in the collection basket OR

Drop the envelope in the secure giving slot at the church office OR

Mail/drop off the envelope to the church office.

  • All contributions must be received by April 30th.

Thanks for considering your participation in this program as we seek to “Spread the Joy” of the Risen Lord to those needing our assistance.
